Main Themes of the Book
Survival- Karana had to make weapons to survive being alone on the island. Karana had to find food to live. She got water to drink from the ocean, so she would't get dehydrated.
Friendship- Karana loved her brother, Ramo, because she cared for him. She had a great friendship with the wild dog, Rontu, she found on the island. Karana had a great respect and friendship with her father, who was the leader.
Creativity- Karana built her weapons out of whatever she could find on the island. She made clothes out of the things she found on the island. She hung a type of fish for brightness, so she could see.
